Christian M. Schmahl, Aareon's CFO for many years, will retire from the operational business on 31 March 2023. Finance expert Dirk Schilling will take over as interim CFO from 1 April 2023.

Mainz, 9 January 2023 - Christian M. Schmahl (58), since 2012 Chief Financial Officer at Aareon, the leading technology company for the European property industry and its partners, will retire from operational business on 31 March 2023. As of 1 April 2023, CFO Dirk Schilling (55), who has a broad experience in software business, will take over the finance division at Aareon on an interim basis. He will report to the Chief Executive Officer, Harry Thomsen.

Christian M. Schmahl, Aareon's Chief Financial Officer, says: "After eleven years of intensive and future-oriented work for Aareon, I have decided to retire from the operational business in order to have more personal freedom, but I will continue to devote myself to non-executive positions. I look back on an exciting time in which we established an agile, high-performance and digitalised finance organisation. I am particularly pleased that I have been able to help shape Aareon's organic and inorganic growth and that we have already made great strides towards becoming a Rule-of-40 SaaS company. I wish the Aareon team every success for its further growth path!"

Commenting on the changes in the finance division, Harry Thomsen said: "I respect Christian M. Schmahl's wish to retire from the operational business and wish him all the best for the future. At the same time, I would like to thank him for the significant further development of the finance department in a transformation phase characterised by growth. I am very pleased that we have found an experienced CFO in Dirk Schilling, who will take over our finance department on an interim basis."

Dirk Schilling was most recently CFO of the Serrala Group, a global software provider for automated financial processes and B2B payments, for over five years, where he was also responsible for the HR and legal departments. Before that, he worked for various companies, including as CFO at Alltours.

Commenting on the changes in the Finance division, Aareon Supervisory Board Chairman Jochen Klösges said: "I have enjoyed working with Christian M. Schmahl over the past one and a half years and would like to thank him very much for his great commitment over the past eleven years. I am pleased that we were able to quickly recruit an experienced leader in Dirk Schilling, and wish him a successful start at Aareon Group."
